Delaware - Confederate Heritage Week - May 10-16, Memorial May 10
In Delaware we celebrate Confederate History from May 10-16. Last year Delaware's Governor Minner declared it to be "Delaware Confederate History Week" and we are hoping for a similar resolution this year.
Georgetown Mayor Mike Wyatt is expected to issue a similar resolution on behalf of the town, which is home to the only monument of its kind - the Delaware Confederate Soldier's Monument located at the Marvel Museum on
South Bedford Street. For more details, folks can visit
www.DESCV.org. On May 10 at 1pm we are holding a ceremony at the monument site and will be adding a newly discovered Delaware Confederate soldier's name to the monument. Research is on-going and as many of these men feared persecution of their families, they kept their identities secret. We will have period style music, speeches, prayers, a cannon salute and rifle salute in their honor.Your Obt Srvt,
