Confederate Heritage Month Updates
It is my pleasure to serve Commander Lott as Chairman of the 2008, Confederate History and Heritage Month
committee for the Georgia Division SCV. I have asked the following men to
serve on this important committee: Past Commander Jack Bridwell as advisor,
Billy Bearden, Mike Crane, Jeff Davis, John Black, Charlie Lott and James King. I, Calvin E. Johnson,

ORMOND BEACH -- Tony Corn
had heard stories for years about his great-great-grandfather fighting in
the Civil War, but it wasn't until he started tracing his family's history

| | North Carolina - Rowan County Board of Commissioners issue Confederate History and Heritage Month Proclamation
The Board of Commissioners
approved a proclamation declaring May as Confederate History and Heritage
Month and taking note of the efforts of the N.C. Division of the Sons of
Confederate Veterans in educating the general public in Confederate
history.

History and Heritage Month celebrating the history and achievements of the
short-lived Christian republic, styled the Confederate States of America.
There are several area SCV Camps and UDC Chapters ready to assist anyone
desiring to research their Confederate ancestor. During this years
Confederate History and Heritage Month join with us to preserve th noble
sacrifices of our Confederate ancestors.

Saturday on the plaza at the Historic Courthouse Square in Hendersonville.

| | Press Release - Georgia Division Sons of Confederate Veterans-- Confederate History Month Committee Saturday,
April 26, 2008, is Confederate Memorial Day in Georgia and has been
a legal holiday since 1874, when this day was first adopted by the
Georgia General Assembly. Since that time Confederate Memorial Day
Events have been sponsored annually throughout the state by the
United Daughters of the Confederacy, Ladies Memorial Association,
Sons of Confederate Veterans, government agencies and other
historical groups.
